FUSS Or FUE?
Hair transplanting involves moving small portions of skin with hair from regions of your scalp that normally do not go bald, such as from the sides and lower back of the head, to cover regions of your head that have become permanently bald. Each small unit of skin with hair that is inserted into a balding part of your scalp is called a graft.
This method of moving hair has been around for decades but until recently was relatively crude, and produced mediocre results. In recent years the art of hair transplanting has been revolutionized with the introduction of what are called “Follicular Unit” micrografts. These minute and fine grafts have almost completely replaced older cruder methods. They provide a much more precise and effective method of transplanting hair, which makes possible the restoration of quite natural looking hair. There are two hair transplanting techniques, Follicular Unit Strip Surgery (FUSS) and the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) surgery, both of these techniques will be further examined in the following pages.
